In a situation where the stock market lags behind the growth of alternative markets and physical assets, adjusting certain trading mechanisms, such as the range of price fluctuations, can help restore the stock market’s core functions related to price discovery, increasing liquidity, and restoring investors’ confidence. This, in turn, not only helps to reduce the valuation gap between stocks and improve the P/NAV ratio, but also shifts investors’ attention from focusing solely on benchmark stocks to smaller companies with growth potential.

Ali Baghzadeh, CEO of Shahri Financial Group, said in a conversation with Bourse24 that improving the market’s microstructures, such as setting appropriate price fluctuation ranges, can help promote market development.

He said that the deterioration of the stock market is worth considering in relation to the physical goods market. This has led to a decrease in investors’ enthusiasm for stocks. The price-to-book ratio can be corrected through structural reforms.

He continued: “The possibility of stock price changes should be aligned with inflationary conditions and those of other markets. Excessive focus on stock indices has reduced investors’ willingness to invest in small and medium-sized companies.”
